(In the Scriptorium (2023 production)
As usual I’m posting a bit behind the beat. But given that Linked In and my website are the only social media in my life perhaps I should get with the program.
First a shout out for the start of The Dictionary of Lost Words tour this year. The play opens (after previews) at the STC’s Ros Packer Theatre on Wednesday March 5th. The cast is largely new – Shannen Alyce Quan as Esme, working with Brian Meegan, Arkia Ashraf, Angela Sullen, Kitty Adams, Ksenja Logos, and Johnny Nasser, once again under the guidance of director Jess Arthur. I saw the first run in the rehearsal room and was hugely impressed. The play then goes to Geelong, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra finishing in Wollongong on June 7th.
Second shout out is for the publication of the playscript by Affirm Press. https://affirmpress.com.au/browse/book/Verity-Laughton,-from-the-novel-by-Pip-Williams-The-Dictionary-of-Lost-Words:-The-Play-9781923046870
And third shout out is that the script did win the Australian Writers’ Guild AWGIE for Best Adaptation for the Stage on February 13th. And a great night was had by all!
