CITY LIBRARY TALK …PLUS SOMETHING FOR THE YEARNING

Yes I know…what on earth does an image of the Neolithic site, Skara Brae in the Orkney Islands have to do with an upcoming talk at the City Library in Adelaide? Zip, I know, except that I have recently been there, as part of a quixotic research project in that bewitching neck of the woods. The site itself is magical, and the landscape around it even more so. So…I thought I may as well do my bit to spread the enchantment.

And now. To business. I’ll be doing a talk about the adaptation of Pip Williams’ The Dictionary of Lost Words at the City Library, Adelaide, in conversation with Bronwyn Tilley on Wednesday 11th September 2024.

From my point of view, it’s a great opportunity to talk about a project dear to my heart with an intelligent and experienced interlocutor, and for fans of Pip’s book it may clarify the process of page-to-stage that is now such a part of our various worlds of performance, both stage (in this case) and screen.

And I can also flag that my stage adaptation of Pip’s book is now also being published by Affirm Press, so will be available for purchase in the coming months.
